March 2023 Staff Spotlight - Lise Vaughan-Sekona

Staff Spotlight

Lise Vaughan-Sekona, Program Development Manager

What interested you in joining the EPIC team? I am a friend of the HI H.O.P.E.S. Statewide Initiative Manager, Delia. Over the years, I have heard her speak highly of the transformative work of EPIC 'Ohana in and for our community. As someone with a passion for justice and service, I was interested in being a part of the good work at EPIC.

What do you believe is your biggest asset that you bring to your role?

The assets that I bring to my role at EPIC are passion for service and diverse experiences in law, business, and the nonprofit sectors. I am grateful that, in my journey, I have had opportunities to pivot, learn, and grow. It is these experiences and opportunities for growth that have given me perspective and bandwidth.

What would you like others to know about yourself?

I am inspired by kindness and motivated by gratitude.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy filing my cup with quality time and a good belly laugh with those I love. Typically, this quality time is spent enjoying a great meal with family and friends. We are an ocean family and enjoy our free time in the water swimming, diving, surfing, paddling, and fishing.

What are you listening to/reading these days?

As a music lover, I listen to all genres of good music. One of my favorite quotes is, "my neighbors listen to good music whether they like it or not." Currently, I am reading the Dharma of the Lotus Sutra.
