Family Wrap Hawaiʻi
For families involved with Child Welfare Services (CWS) the road to stability in the home, reunification, and/or permanency can be a challenging one. The goal of Family Wrap Hawaiʻi is to get to know each family, hear their story, learn about their strengths, and identify what the family and children really need to successfully navigate CWS. Family Wrap services are available statewide.
Wrap Team Facilitation Services- The EPIC Wrap team brings together the family, service providers, and the family’s natural supporters to create a team working together to create plans that meet the family’s needs in a unique, out-of-the-box way. In monthly meetings, the team assigns tasks to different team members, and works through barriers that may come up. The focus is always on moving things forward and working together in a way that honors family voice and choice, with persistence, respect, and aloha.
Wrap Standalone Services- Family Wrap now offers standalone supports from peer support and community resource navigation to families involved in CWS. This service requires active collaboration between families, the assigned Wrap staff, and the CWS worker. Services provided align with and are guided by the principles of Wraparound and EPIC 'Ohana's approach to supporting families and young people. This service is separate from Family Wrap's traditional, facilitated team service and offers a more one-on-one, "walk alongside" kind of support.

Who are we?
FACILITATOR: Orients the family and the youth to the Wrap process and facilitates team meetings and team collaboration
NAVIGATOR: Connects family to community resources and helps team stay on task
PARENT PARTNER: Supports the family in sharing their perspectives, strengths, and challenges. Meets with parents regularly
YOUTH PARTNER: Supports the youth to help them become equipped and empowered to advocate for themselves and their needs
Wrap Team Facilitation Services
What:
Children who are transitioning into permanency (i.e. Legal Guardianship or Adoption) with relatives or non-relatives
Families working towards reunification
Adoptions and/or Legal Guardianships that are deemed “at risk of disruption”
Young people (ages 15-17) who are in need of permanency options and/or preparation for independent living
Multiple barriers prevent forward movement and productivity of the case. Common examples of such barriers include:
Insufficient progress in service plan by family/youth
Lack of communication and/or collaboration among team members and family
Lack of needed resources and community supports
Lack of natural supports
Required services need tailoring to fit family circumstances and cultural practices
Team needs an out-of-the-box, sustainable approach toward achieving case goals and increasing stability within the family unit
Families involved in CWS that need increased stability in placement (i.e. finding forever home or reducing number of placements within short period of time), intense focus on child well-being, and/or helping family to develop natural supports and protective factors within the home
Caregivers and youth are willing to trust Wrap team and address core issues that have been preventing progress.
Inquiries & Referrals:
Inquiries of interest and formal referrals may be submitted to Family Wrap for review. A consultation meeting with the CWS worker may be requested in order to gather more information.
Caregivers and youth who would benefit from an intensive team process that requires transparency, full participation, and behavioral changes. Wrap Facilitator, Navigator, and Peer Supports help family to stay accountable to the goals of the CWS service plan.
Team is willing to spend time highlighting functional strengths, uncovering and addressing underlying needs, and contributing time and effort to support forward movement.

Wrap Standalone Services
Family Wrap offers statewide standalone services of peer support and community resource navigation to families involved in CWS. This service requires active collaboration between families, the assigned Wrap staff, and the CWS worker.

Community Navigators offer support with researching and identifying existing resources that provide concrete supports for families and young people.
Parent Partners offer support to birth parents by helping to build positive connections, accompanying parents to meetings when appropriate, and model self-efficacy.
Youth Partners offer support to young people helping them to recognize their own value and potential, support connection within their community, foster resilience, and promote self-sufficiency.
